Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. is a leading edge Research & Development company with a wide spectrum of technologies in commercial and military applications. We are looking for a mechanical engineer, preferably with experience in high voltage components or systems and with the ability to design and document electromechanical components and assemblies.
Job Scope
The position includes a wide range of challenging and interesting work involving Mechanical Design, fabrication, assembly and integration of high voltage (to 10’s of kV and above) components such as might be used in electricity transmission & delivery systems. Attention to detail and safety are critical. Experience or interest in hardware is vital as is experience designing and modeling electromechanical hardware and systems using 3-D CAD programs. Experience leading teams and writing technical reports and descriptions is desired. Significant travel is required (3-6 weeks in a row once or twice a year with other one-week trips). As with most small dynamic companies, the applicant must be capable of multitasking and managing their own time.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience required – 15 or more years of experience including leadership, is very attractive and will qualify for higher compensation.
- Experience designing or packaging complex mechanisms and overseeing their fabrication, assembly, installation and verification of function. Experience on high voltage systems or components is a plus
- Experience designing using 3-D CAD software to produce engineering layouts and documentation
- A BS degree or other relevant technical degree is a plus
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, i.e. giving presentations and writing proposal reports or specifications.
- Willingness to travel for field tests and customer briefings
- US CITIZENSHIP and the ability to obtain a security clearance
