Experimental Physicist


 

Job Description

We are seeking an experimental scientist/engineer to support a number of ongoing programs that we have with the Department of Defense. Experiments are related to thermodynamics, gas dynamics, aerosols, aerodynamics, gas acoustics, and gas chemistry, and associated mechanical systems design.

This person should have an engineering or science education and hands-on experience planning and conducting tests, development and testing of simulation models, and operating test equipment. We are looking for both lead personnel with test experience and new graduates with lab experience.

Requirements

  • At least a BS in Physics, Engineering, or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to work in the field of experimental physics and to understand the literature and mathematics.
  • The ability to design and conduct experiments to measure quantitative performance, maintain statistical validity, control variables, maintain clear documentation, and produce defendable conclusions.
  • The ability to clearly communicate ideas to team members, management, and customers through stand-up presentation and written reports.
  • Additional desired skills include: Experience in MATLAB, LABVIEW, and data acquisition systems.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for customer briefings and field testing.
  • US CITIZENSHIP required for security clearance purposes.
